up with yoga and learning a Bollywood dance routine.
Girls perform the routine they have learnt at the end
of the Playshop.

‘Samurai: The Way of the Warrior’
Dancing with swords. Control over mind and body. Boys become
warriors and learn about the initiation and life of these
real life Japanese superheroes. Dressed in costumes we bring,
boys perform a routine that wouldn’t have looked out
of place in ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’.
Watch the boys become men before your very eyes. Photo portrait
included!
‘Geisha Girls’ Tea Party’
Slip on a kimono, get painted as a geisha, compose
a haiku (Japanese poem), arrange fresh flowers and take
tea Japanese style! Girls introduce themselves in Japanese
and perform their poem at the end of the Playshop. Don’t
forget they get to take their flower arrangements and
poem home, too.

‘Venetian Carnivalé’
Calling all actors and actresses 8 -13 years of age! Explore
the great Italian comedic theatre tradition of the Commedia
Dell’Arté. Everyone creates a fabulous mask in
the tradition of the most beloved characters of the genré
like Harlequin, Il Capitano (The Captain) & Colombina.
We improvise and perform a series of classic skits with masks
and costumes we bring! Great for special one off drama sessions
in schools.

‘Mysteries of Magic’
First, a Magic Show by Merlin the Magician. Then, the
young people learn to make and perform their own magic
illusions. Everyone practices a favourite trick and
we end with a magic show performed by the children.
Every child gets a Magic Showbag with instructions
on each trick.

‘Haka Men’
Love the All Blacks? Well, at the very least you have to
admire the fierce Haka they perform prior to a game. Boys
are initiated into the why and how of a Haka, the stories
of famous battles and get to learn how to perform one themselves.
Body painting is involved so the performance looks perfect!
Photo portrait included.
‘Druid Mystery’
Teamed with an outdoor labyrinth experience and medieval
picnic, this Playshop is perfect for teaming with an adult
occasion in the same park or garden. We reveal a series of
Ancient Celtic mysteries and perform a few rituals which the
ancients would approve of. A little bit of magic and wisdom
gets dispensed along the way, just in time for walking the
labyrinth. We bring costumes for children to dress in, too.
‘The Riddle of the Sphinx’
A splendid mix of Egyptology, history and mythology, children
uncover the mysteries of Egypt and solve a series of puzzles
posed by the Sphinx. This one’s for the game player.
We make Egyptian ‘artifacts’ and discover a story
of royal intrigue, murder and mayhem which spans centuries.
The young Egyptians re-enact tales of times past, dressing
in costumes for the adventure…
‘Lion Dance’
Chinese New Year and the lucky Lion appears! Children learn
about the significance of the Lion and all his musical accompanists
and get to perform a Lion Dance of their own. You’ll
watch amazed as children in the crowd appear masked to scare
away evil spirits and perhaps, just perhaps, be treated to
a snippet – just a taste – of song and dance from
the Beijing Opera.
‘Tudor Times’
“I’m Henry the VIII I am, Henry the VIII I am
I am!” Children travel back through time to the court
of King Henry the VIIIth and learn about this fascinating,
important and yes gruesome period of English history. We don
someone King Henry the VIII and with that comes the appointment
of various court positions. The final performance unfolds
as King Henry and his court re-enact some of the most critical
incidents of this period in history. Lute playing permitted.
Photo portrait included.
‘Musical Jam: Caribbean Soul’
What do you get when you mix a bunch of percussion instruments
and 30 children? Muscical Jam, that’s what. This isn’t
any old music class, this is a class for developing rhythm,
for imbibing the heady excitement of the Carribean and dancing
with your heart. We learn traditional songs as well as do
a heart thumping jam which makes everyone drip with perspiration.
Perfect for a specialist music class session and for the group
of musical friends looking for a scintillating party experience.
